Kapu Cave took me a while to beat, but the plot was horrid and it was kinda weird switching off being a Hardy Boy. The Haunted Carosel was so easy and boring, I won't even talk about it. Oh, and the whole history/ backstory of the game is pretty interesting, too. You got to go to lots of places around Paris, and had lots of jobs to do and things to get. It took a while, too, probably one of the longest. It's a newer one, and the plot is a lslightly weird, but over all, it's one of my all time favorites.

It was pretty easy and fast, though, for me. The plot was pretty dumb, but you did learn a lot about the Mayans and stuff. I don't remember it taking me very long to finishm but it has been a while. Shadow Ranch had a decent plot, and lots of places for exploring, I thought. Sorry, I've never played the Final Scene. The plot is decent, and it's pretty interesting. I got stuck for a while on something really easy, so it took me a little longer than usual. The plot was a little iffy, but I still really enjoyed it. It has LOTS of puzzles (so maybe that would go faster for you) and a TON of secret passage ways (I like those too!). Even my dad, who likes to play the games with me, said that he expected a lot more out of their characters, including how they're actually supposed to be related to each other.Ĭastle Malloy is the same thing, but it's a bit more bearable, because you can see close-ups of really cool graphics, like the fairy ring, but you also have to explore on foot (aerial view, of course), or fly a jet pack to get around.īlackmoor Manor was one of my very favorites, and it took me one of the longest.

Plus, I was personally disappointed with how George, and eventually Bess, looked. You have to drive a golf cart, you have to sail, and you have to scuba-dive all in one short day. Ransom of the Seven Ships is ridiculous about that you can only look at specific scenes, you can't explore them much. It, along with Castle Malloy, doesn't have much to see about the landscaping. I finished the newest one, Ransom of the Seven Ships, in a little under two hours total.

Oh, and idancebetter, I agree, the new games are pretty freaking short. Since I haven't played my old games in quite a while, I can't really pick from my memory.Update: For example: Going through a museum and looking at artifacts all day and talking to the flamboyant Sinclair guy, that sometimes-helps curator, that Spanish man that always talks of vengeance and utter hatred for everyone, and that middle-aged restorer with the asthma problems would make me go crazy in real life I wasn't surprised Sonny quit.)Īnyway, sorry for making this so long, but just tell me the longest and most in-depth/revealing game you can think of. If you could tell me which of the ones that I just mentioned are the longest (not necessarily the hardest, though I go through most puzzles very easily, but what I'm really looking for is dialogue and revealing characters and an exciting and always-changing plot. I was thinking along the lines of Ghost Dogs of Moon Lake, The Secret of Shadow Ranch, maybe even The Final Scene, and, God forbid, Secret of the Scarlet Hand, (it was like a really boring geographical history class to me, and it seemed like every color of every scene was either adobe or orange, even outside of the museum, but at least it took forever to see any action.) One where you actually get to GO places and learn new things, and where there's a lot of secret passageways and things. Now, I'm wanting to buy another game, an older one, preferably. Unfortunately, if there's one thing that I've noticed about the new games is that they end rather abruptly, especially in cases like Ransom of the Seven Ships, I guess because there is absolutely no real exploration, just a miniature mark to tell you where Nancy is on the particular road and medium to which you're travelling, something they got from Castle Malloy CM is disappointing in that way, but it was much more interesting than Ransom in what you got to learn and the various characters you encountered. Over the years, I've lost all of my old Nancy Drew games, (both physically and from computer crashes), and I have to satisfy myself with the newer ones that have been coming out for the past couple of years, (White Wolf of Icicle Creek, Legend of the Crystal Skull, The Phantom of Venice, The Haunting of Castle Malloy, and Ransom of the Seven Ships, among a few older versions that I buy off of the Internet, like Secret of the Old Clock, Last Train to Blue Moon Canyon, and the oldest being Treasure in the Royal Tower.)
